A workshop about “The role of site-based measurements in agricultural monitoring” took take place from 24-26 May 2016 at the US Department of Agriculture building in Ames, Iowa, USA.

GEOGLAM RAPP was contacted to participate in it, and four RAPP representatives have been invited to attend and present on the project.

The workshop has been extremely useful for the GEOGLAM RAPP activity. It has set firm grounds for a new and ongoing collaboration with the LTAR network. All four rangeland LTAR sites present at the meeting showed interest and willingness to join the RAPP initiative, and they represent a good sample of the variability in the US rangelands.

Members of the JECAM network were also part of the workshop, and several links have been made with the GEOGLAM RAPP pilot sites activity.

A field trip was also organised for the participants.

Juan Guerschman (CSIRO, RAPP leader) was one of the 4 RAPP representatives and will talk more about it at our next workshop in South Africa next week (20-22 June 2016).

Stay tuned!
